A Short History

Lewis & Graves have been in business for 26 years. During this time the partnership has gained a wide range of skills, knowledge & experience to meet the demands from an ever-changing environment, legislation and of course the requirements of its clients.

Today

Mark Graves is the driving force behind the business, working closely with some of the cleaning industry’s major manufacturers of materials and equipment as well as maintaining close contact with clients. Lewis & Graves at the cutting edge of any new advances in technology or innovative methods and systems of work.

Keith Lewis controls the financial and contractual side, personally overseeing each contract to ensure that the most effective and safest systems of work are being utilised to achieve the best possible results.

Mark and Keith have a closely knit team at head office, whose clear management structure filters down to the area managers and those based on site.

Lewis & Graves continues to win major cleaning contracts. This is not at the expense of keeping its existing clients - a high proportion of our clients extend and renew their contracts.

Lewis & Graves has a projected turnover for 2011 approaching £10 million and growth continues. Lewis & Graves has undertaken several recent steps to meet the challenges faced by its expansion of business, most notably it has now become a Limited Liability Partnership and has engaged the financial and advisory services of Chantrey Vellacott DFK, one of the City of London's oldest and respected accounting firms.

Lewis and Graves achieved a 100% provable offset of its carbon liability in 2009 and in 2011 now qualifies to use the recently established national PAS 2060 Carbon Neutral certification.

Origins

In 1985 Mark Graves and Keith Lewis joined forces to form the Lewis & Graves Partnership, having worked independently for various cleaning contractors over a 10 year period.

In 1994 Lewis & Graves became one of the first cleaning companies to achieve accreditation to BS 5750 standard. This was later replaced by ISO 9001, the system that is in place today. Its accreditation applies not only to its head office, but to all sites where it provides its services.

In 2006 Lewis & Graves successfully contained and eradicated serious viral outbreaks in four Kent schools. Since that time we have available a highly-trained team that can respond to a viral or bacterial outbreak within an hour of notification. (see additional services for more details)
