Painting and decorating is a high-profile maintenance task that can instantly improve the appearance of the building, in some cases without as much of a financial burden as you may perceive it to be.
In our experience we have found that most walls in schools and offices have been painted with ordinary matt emulsion and this does not respond well to cleaning. In fact there is usually very little improvement in its appearance after cleaning. In most cases trying to remove stubborn marks from surfaces painted with matt emulsion will result in the removal of the paint, leaving the plaster grinning through.
In most situations the cost of painting would be not be that much more expensive than cleaning, but the benefits of a clean, bright and fresh environment for your staff to work in easily out-weighs any small addition cost.
